Meet the White Minder

Periklis Papadopoulos studied Navigation and got his PhD from Stanford University. Since 1987 he is working in research center of NASA in California.

He is the first inspiratory recognized Greek space mission in the international space station L-SAT. He worked for more than 20 years in space missions and founded the company “Systems LLC’’ and “Space Systems Design” where is the first and unique program of study higher education in the field of space in Greece.

He has been awarded by NASA for his offer and next target is the installation station of NASA in Greece and specifically in Kalamata, as according to him is a point that favors development of the space tourism.

“Greek Minds @ Work”
Periklis really inspired and motivated the audience in White Minds 3. Feeling proud of being Greek, Periklis narrated the story of L-sat, the satellite created only by a Greek scientific team of young people led by him, which was launched from NASA facilities. “L-Sat” was designed and built by the Greek scientific team “Lamda Team” and the motto of the team is “Greek Minds at Work”.
The Greek scientists aimed to put Greece on the world map of Aerospace technology and emphasize that not only cutting-edge technology was used to build the satellite but also all the electronic systems were constructed from scratch, thus gaining an extremely valuable scientific knowledge for Greece.
Papadopoulos said that the Greek satellite was constructed for two purposes: to monitor all Greek merchant ships, and, secondly, for scientific purposes, more particularly for the first graphene test that will be conducted in space.
More importantly, there is a third reason behind, which has to do with the human factor. During the worst economic crisis, some Greeks have proved that they can do something extraordinary. Dedicating their time and effort without any payment, those young scientists made us proud and have proved that Greeks are capable of succeeding in demanding projects.
